Sick Child Policy Reminder

Hello Friends,

With each child’s welfare in mind, we ask parents not to send a child to school if he/she is sick or has a fever. We will be taking children’s temperatures at drop off and any child with a temperature above 100.4 will not be allowed to attend school until the fever comes down, with out fever reducing medicine for 24 hours.

Along with temperature checks we will also be asking 4 health questions:

  • Has your child had a fever in the last 24 hours

  • Has your child taken any fever reducing medicine in the last 24 hrs

  • Does your child have any COVID-19 symptoms

  • Has your child been around anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days

If you answer yes to any of the questions your child may not attend school. These are the CDC guidelines that we must adhere to.

A child who has a fever at or above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home. Parents should monitor his/her symptoms and call a doctor or use telemedicine if concerned about the symptoms.

A child who has been sent home can return to the program when:

  • The child has had no fever for 24 hours without taking medication to reduce fever AND

  • Any symptoms have improved AND/OR

  • At least 10 days have passed since the symptoms began.

A child may come back earlier if a doctor confirms the cause of their fever/symptoms is not COVID-19 and releases the child to return to the program in writing. A child who experiences fever and/or respiratory symptoms while at home should not attend school.

Please let us know if your child is taking any medications and has had a breathing treatment. We do require a Medication Authorization Form if you would like us to give your child medication during the school day.
Thank you for your support during this “crazy” time. Please just let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
